The Story
Anertia was born from a layoff and a conversation. After experiencing the disorientation of a job loss, it became clear that the real challenge wasn't finding the next role: it was reconnecting with your authentic self first. The app started as a way to help one person (my wife) articulate accomplishments she'd overlooked and strengths she struggled to name. It became something much larger.
The Challenge
1:1 meetings with leadership consistently devolve into status updates. People struggle to articulate their value, their impact, and their authentic professional identity: not because they lack it, but because they've never been given a structured framework to surface it. The challenge was to create a guided reflection experience that felt safe, honest, and genuinely useful.
The Approach
Designed a minimal, 4-question guided experience that takes under 2 minutes but produces a meaningful personal profile. The questions are carefully sequenced to bypass self-deprecation and surface genuine strengths. The experience is intentionally not a test: there are no right answers, and the more honest the input, the more useful the output.
The Outcome
A platform that transforms the anxiety of self-presentation into a grounded, confident narrative. Users leave with a clearer sense of their professional identity and language to communicate it: whether in a 1:1, an interview, or a LinkedIn profile.
